Federation's Jewish Community Relations Committee (JCRC) promotes racial and religious understanding and endeavors to eliminate anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry through advocacy and educational programming. 

Activities of the JCRC include:
  • Conduct a bi-annual workshop for teachers on the Holocaust and genocide and/or diversity and tolerance (next scheduled for November 2021).
  • Monitor and respond to anti-Semitic and anti-Israel stories/articles/editorials and anti-Semitic and anti-Israel occurrences in schools and universities in the region.
  • Plan inter-faith programs to develop positive relationships with major religious groups.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local non-Jewish community leaders and clergy.
  • Coming in 2021: the 1st annual Holocaust Student Art, Writing, and Multimedia Contest.

Ariella Rada, "Israel: A Model of Diversity"

Ariella Rada is the  Consul for Academic and Community Affairs, Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest.  As herself a woman of color and of Ethiopian descent, she offers personal insight into Israel’s diverse society. With inhabitants from more than 100 countries, Israeli society is a complex mix of Jews, Christians, Muslims, Druze, Bedouins, and so much more. The various ethnic communities leave their mark in everything from politics to art to education. Ms. Rada took us through her own fascinating personal journey to highlight how many others have come to the land of milk and honey to live successful lives and integrate into Israel’s culture and everyday life.
